After a 6 year hiatus, Mo’Nique is starring in a new film called “Blackbird.”
The film is about a church choir singer in a small Mississippi town who feels like a misfit and comes to the realization that he is gay. Mo’Nique and Isaiah Washington play the parents.
Patrick Ian Polk directed the adaptation of Larry Duplechan’s novel. It was co-written by Polk and Rikki Beadle Blair.
Blackbird was released in 10 theaters in five markets Friday, April 24. It will also be available on the subscription-based Urban Movie Channel
