Can you run a mile? Many Hoosiers can and will do it this evening, which is expected to cause some traffic delays and backups in the Circle City at the end of the workday. The Monumental Mile, a precursor race to November’s Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, gets underway this evening at 5 p.m. with a street closure and registration on the northwest quad of Monument Circle and the 1200 block of Meridian Street.  Just before 6:30 p.m. Meridian Street closes for the race between 11th and 16th Streets.  The streets will be blocked at least until around 9 p.m. A brief awards ceremony gets underway at 8 p.m. Registration is $25.
