The list of women who have accused comedian Bill Cosby of sexual assault is continuing to grow. Two more women have come forward to share their stories. Both said Cosby invited them out for drinks on two separate occasions, and what started off as something innocent took a left turn. “He made me kneel down,” a woman identified as Elizabeth said. “I don’t want to repeat what happened next. All I know is this was the most horrifying thing that could ever happen to a young woman.”  The other woman, Charlotte Fox, said she met Cosby when she was an extra in the 1974 film Uptown Saturday Night. After inviting her out to a jazz club, she claims he sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion. Cosby has denied all of the sexual assault allegations. Read more.


President Obama’s Disapproval Ratings Rise

President Obama’s approval ratings are seesawing back and forth during his last months in office. After his approval rating went up last month, a new poll shows that his disapproval rating has risen. At least 51 percent of Americans aren’t happy with the way President Obama is running the country, and 47 percent approve of him. Many people don’t agree with the way he’s handling ISIS, other foreign affairs, and the economy. The poll was conducted from August 13 through August 16 by CNN/ORC. Read more.


83 HBCU Students Named 2015 HBCU All-Stars

Yesterday, The White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities put a spotlight on students from HBCUs who have made strides in civic engagement, leadership, and academics. The 83 students, who come from 70 HBCUs, were picked from a pool of 450 students who submitted applications. The HBCU All-Stars will be ambassadors of the WHIHBCUs. “The Obama Administration is committed to promoting excellence, innovation and sustainability across our nation’s HBCUs. This year’s class of All-Stars has distinguished itself as exemplars of the talent that HBCUs cultivate and noble ambassadors of their respective institutions.” said Ivory A. Toldson, WHIHBCUs’ acting executive director, in a statement. “We are confident these impressive students will help the White House Initiative on HBCUs meaningfully engage with students, showcase their talent and advance our agenda to advance academic excellence at HBCUs.”


Ice Cube and His Son Team Up For New Film

After seeing success from the Straight Outta Compton film, Ice Cube and his son O’Shea Jackson, Jr. will team up again. The new project, titled April 29th, 1992, will possibly focus on the L.A. riots that took place after the Rodney King verdict was released. The Lionsgate film will be directed by Donovan Marsh, with the script written by Sascha Penn. Production will reportedly start in 2016. Read more.
