This years controversial Oscars have been continuously getting a lot of attention for their lack of diversity.  Of course, it was a huge topic of discussion on the red carpet at this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards.  The SAG Awards were held January 30th, and the actors of “Straight Outta Compton” were in attendance for their nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Entertainment Tonight was on the red carpet, and they got the inside scoop of what the cast thought about the Oscar snub.  O’Shea Jackson Jr. who plays his father, Ice Cube, in the film said, “You know you’re the man when you’re not invited to the party, and all they can do is talk about you.”

His statement follows on the tails of what his father has gone on record saying earlier this week,  “We got so much praise for the movie, and it’s like — how could you be mad because one other academy or guild or anybody didn’t say it’s number one?”  Ice Cube continued, “It’s crying about not having enough icing on your cake. It’s just ridiculous.”

The cast ended up getting beat out by Spotlight for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the SAG Awards.  You can read more on the story and watch their response to the Oscars here.
