Many families gather on Thanksgiving day for family, food, fellowship, and of course football.  The 74-year-old “Queen of Soul,” Aretha Franklin, quickly became the topic of discussion at dinner tables across the country after singing the National Anthem before the Detroit Lions-Minnesota Vikings game.

The National Anthem has been sung by many, usually taking up a minute and some change.  Franklin, who accompanied herself playing soulful keys, spent 4 minutes and 35 seconds on her rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner.”

Of course, Franklin quickly trended on Twitter, with many commenting that her version was entirely too long.  CBS Sports even joked about the length of the song.

One thing is for sure, Franklin’s rendition will be remembered for years to come.  Check out the full video below, and read more on the story here.
