Margot Lee Shetterly, who is the author of the book that inspired the film which carries the same name “Hidden Figures” is visiting Indiana on this busy Wednesday. The film garnered “Oscar” buzz and was nominated for an Academy Award on Tuesday in the Best Pictures category and landed a Best Supporting Actress nomination for one of its three leads, Octavia Spencer. Shetterly, who knew many of the women mathematics geniuses in her native Virginia, appears tonight at Purdue University at the Stewart Center’s Loeb Playhouse on campus in West Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. Tonight’s program is a part of Purdue’s Martin Luther King Jr. memorial events. It is free and open to the public.
