The Indianapolis Public Schools have revealed their plans to change their school calendar, from 180 days of school over ten months; to 180 days of school over twelve months. In the plan revealed Wednesday (Oct 6th) school would start August 1, 2011 and run in four nine week sessions, separated by 3 three week breaks, which would include opportunities for remediation classes and one five week summer vacation.
The proposed IPS schedule would be as follows:1st Semester/Session 1 – August 1, 2011 to September 30, 2011; 1st Semester/Session 2 – October 24, 2011 – December 15, 2011; 2nd Semester/Session 1 – January 9, 2012 – March 16, 2012; 2nd Semester/Session 2 – April 9, 2012 – June 21, 2012. Summer vacation would be June 25, 2012 to July 31, 2012.

- Oct. 18, Emmerich Manual High School, 2405 Madison Ave.
- Oct. 27, Arsenal Technical High School, 1500 E. Michigan St.
- Oct. 28, Northwest High School, 5525 W. 34th St.
