The driver of a semi is in critical condition following a crash on the city’s northeast side.

It happened at 82nd Street and Shadeland Avenue just after 10:00 am. The semi collided with a passenger vehicle.

Police say the semi driver got out of the cab to speak to the driver of the other vehicle. He then got back into the semi and started driving again. That’s when police believe he had some sort of medical problem and drove the semi into a ditch.

Officers responding to the scene gave the man CPR. It’s believed he was in cardiac arrest.

He was taken to Community North Hospital in critical condition.
