I was so sad to hear the news of the passing of Ms. Lena Horne on Sunday night. To me she epitomized grace, elegance and class. I think one of the main reasons why I loved her so much was because she reminded me so much of my grandmother. My grandma Velva was often told she looked like Lena Horne and trust me, she knew that was a compliment! My grandmother loved Lena Horne and spoke of her often, so the name Lena Horne was always heard throughout my childhood.  From Stormy Weather to Sesame Street to The Cosby Show to The Wiz, she always was a force to be reckoned with. I loved how she carried herself and how she spoke with such confidence.  I can only strive to be as elegant and classy as she was.

I have had pictures up of Ms. Lena in my home and at the office for a few years now.  There is no other celebrity that is as classy as she was… none.  Her beauty, her strength and her poise has inspired me and will continue to do so! I will miss you Ms. Horne … you are a treasure!

Here are some of my favorite Lena Horne moments: Enjoy! Share yours!
