The passing of gospel great Walter Hawkins gave me the opportunity to go back into his rich music catalog and check out all of the wonderful music he and his family gave the world. Every song he and his family sang, gave GOD the glory and praise. Although some of his music is considered “old school”, it still sounds sweet to my ears. When I began to listen to his song, “Be Grateful”, this particular time, the words spoke loud and direct to me. I reflected on my week, month, year and life and questioned myself, “What Am I Grateful For?” There’s so many things I am grateful for and makes me recognizes how precious life is.
Take time out to ask yourself, “What are YOU grateful for?” Share it with us or with someone who may need to hear your testimony when you’re in ear-distance of someone complaining and worrying. Walter Hawkins and the Hawkins Family gave us this song and many others that we can listen to over and over again.

Here’s the lyrics:
Be-e-e-e-e-e Grateful)
(Be-e-e-e-e-e Grateful)
God has not promised me sunshine
That’s not the way it’s going to be
But a little rain (A little rain)
Mixed with God’s sunshine
A little pain (A little pain)
Makes me appreciate the good times
(Be-e-e-e-e-e Grateful) Grateful
(Be-e-e-e-e-e Grateful) Grateful
God desires to feel your longing
Every pain that you feel
He feels them just like you (Just like you)
But he had to die to make you feel only good (Only good)
Then you can appreciate the good times
(Be-e-e-e-e-e Grateful) Grateful
(Be-e-e-e-e-e Grateful) Be Grateful
Be Grateful
Because there’s someone else who’s worse off than you
Be Grateful (Be Grateful)
Because there’s someone else who’d love to be in your shoes
Be Grateful ( Be Grateful)
Lord God save us
Be Grateful (Be Grateful
Be Grateful (Be Grateful) (*repeated several times)
For it will be alright
Be Grateful (Be Grateful)
Even through the hard times, the good times too
Be Grateful (Be Grateful)
God said in his words that he never leave you
Be Grateful (Be Grateful)
Be Grateful (Be Grateful) (*repeated several times)
(Be-e-e-e-e-e Grateful)
He wants us to be grateful
For it will be alright.
