It’s always great when I can talk with those who paved the way for folks like me to do what I do on radio and TV. Our Afternoons with Amos audience got a rare treat hearing from a pioneer African-American in television journalism. Carole Simpson was the first African-American woman to anchor a major TV network newscast (ABC World News Weekend). She was the first woman to do radio news in Chicago. Simpson worked for the NBC owned TV station in Chicago then went on to Washington to work as a network correspondent for both NBC News and ABC News.  In 1992 she was the first and ONLY African-American to moderate a national Presidential debate (Clinton vs. Bush).  I talked with Simpson about her life and career. She’s written her memoirs NewsLady available at Amazon.com or at her own website www.carolesimpson.com.
