Nationally known fitness guru Donna Richardson Joyner was in Indianapolis to speak with a group of students at North Wayne Elementary School who had completed in the Presidential Active Lifestyle Challenge. Donna Richardson Joyner is a longtime member of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition.  The Presidential Active Lifestyle Challenge is a program supported by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama that is a six-week health initiative designed to help children and adults make a commitment to staying active and sticking to it. But while appearing live on Afternoons with Amos, Donna chided the host for not doing more to be fit.  When Amos complained about his “beer belly” even though he doesn’t drink beer, and the problem of getting exercise when one works on a computer most of the day, Donna Richardson Joyner took over the program (at the 15:30 mark on the audio clip below) and started an impromptu workout over the radio.  Donna led Amos in a regimen of jumping jacks and other stretching exercises that got our Hall of Fame broadcaster breaking a sweat and getting winded.  But it showcased Donna’s point of the importance of regular exercise, not just for children, but for adults, including older adults. Donna Richardson Joyner works with First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative which also seeks to improve fitness and nutrition among America’s youth and adults. Besides exercising, Donna shared with Amos and listeners the importance of improving exercise and fitness in the African-American community   Click The Arrow to Hear Donna Richardson Joyner share exercise and fitness tips and make Amos sweat (that starts at the 15:30 mark).
