The National Museum of African American Music hosted their 2017 My Music Matters: A Celebration of Legends Luncheon in honor of Black Music Month, and our boy Kirk Franklin was honored.  Tamela Mann paid tribute to Franklin in song, and LeAndria Johnson who was also in attendace paid tribute to fellow honoree Ms. Patti Labelle.

Franklin spoke about the future of the museum keeping the music alive.

“Music and the history of black people has always done that and so I hope that we will continue to do it with integrity and with excellence,” said singer Kirk Franklin.
