There is no question that Serena Williams is one of the greatest athletes the world has ever seen.  In a recent interview, former tennis pro John McEnroe made some sexist comments about Williams’ abilities that did not sit well with many.

McEnroe told NPR that if Williams were to play on the men’s tour that she would “be like 700 in the world.”  He went on to state, “That doesn’t mean I don’t think Serena is an incredible player. I do, but the reality of what would happen on a given day is Serena could beat some players, I believe, because she is so incredibly strong mentally.”

Williams, who has won 23 singles Grand Slams and 14 more in doubles, responded to McEnroe’s comments with nothing but class in the form of two tweets.

Williams appears on the cover of the August 2017 issue of Vanity Fair.  When VF asked Williams about being brought up in conversations as the best athlete of all time, she stated “If I were a man, then it wouldn’t be any sort of question.”
