Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry stopped by Afternoons with Amos to talk with Amos and listeners about a variety of subjects.  Curry talked about the new revision of Indiana’s Criminal Code which takes effect July 1st. Categories of felonies and misdemeanors have been changed; with provisions that provide for more community corrections options, instead of imprisonment,  for those convicted of non-violent offenses.

Prosecutor Curry also discussed somewhat why no criminal charges were brought in the case of mysterious shenanigans involved in the city’s rental of space in the old Eastgate Shopping Mall for a Regional Operations Center for police and public safety agencies.  A Center that had been closed for several months because of construction defects and fire safety issues.  City officials have refused to provide key documents to a special City-County Council committee amidst charges of possibility wrongdoing.  But Prosecutor Curry said an investigation by the Indiana State Police found no criminality.  The Prosecutor also talked about a scam where workers on taxpayer paid construction projects weren’t being properly paid “common wage” wages and benefits in violation of the law.  And the Prosecutor also acknowledged on the program why he’s running for a second term as Marion County Prosecutor.  Click the Media Player to hear Prosecutor Terry Curry’s Afternoons with Amos Interview.
