For only the second time in its eleven years, Afternoons with Amos broadcast live coverage of an appearance in Indianapolis by a President of the United States. In July 2005, Afternoons with Amos anchored live coverage of the visit by President George W. Bush to Indianapolis to speak at the Indiana Black Expo Corporate Luncheon. This time, President Barack Obama’s visit to Ivy Tech was covered live by the program, including seventy-five minutes of live interviews and coverage prior to the President’s speech. As the program’s coverage aired, Indianapolis’ other media outlets and reporters took notice of the only live commercial radio coverage of President Obama’s appearance in Indianapolis.
