Jeff Lasiter, who works at Cook Inc. and is an IU graduate, was on the receiving end of a football helmet thrown into the stands by an irate New York Giants player at the Colts game Sunday night. Lasiter spoke with Lynn Houser of the Bloomington Herald-Times.

“We sit in the 6th row along the 40-yard line, just watching the action. Coming upward to us was this spinning oject on a bee-line coming toward my dad (also known as Jeff) and I. As soon as I grabbed it, I put it under my chair. The upoken rule in the NFL is that anything that goes in the stands, stays in the stands.”

Lasiter caught Brandon Jacobs’ helmet and was reluctant to give it up to security personnel that wanted it back. He did relinquish the helmet and in return received a game ball.
