Black Girls Rock is a wonderful non-profit organization founded by world renowned DJ Beverly Bond. It is a youth empowerment and mentoring organization established to promote the arts for young women of color, as well as to encourage dialogue and analysis of the ways women of color are portrayed in the media. Last year their first awards ceremony, dedicated to honoring exceptional women of color who are inspiring role models, aired on BET and it returns this year to honor more dynamic Black women.

This year the organization will be honoring Academy Award-nominee Taraji P. Henson; political activist and author Angela Davis; gospel singer Shirley Caesar; actress and singer Tatyana Ali; President of WNBA and former Girl Scouts USA executive Laurel J. Richie; and The Rebecca Project for Human Rights co-founders Imani Walker and Malika Saada Saar. The two hour extravaganza will feature performances by Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Shirley Caesar, Melanie Fiona, Mary Mary, Jill Scott and Elle Varner. This is indeed a must-see for every woman, young and old.

The second annual awards show will air on BET on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 8 PM ET/PT. Will you be watching?
