This season of FOX’s Empire has had dwindling numbers, compared to it’s record breaking first season. It has gotten lots of criticism lately from viewers who have tuned out, but Jessie Smollett asks fans to continue watching.
Smollett commented, “I understand the backlash. They have something to compare it to now. But this isn’t a show about happy endings. It’s messy and wild and emotional and complicated and “messed up”, but it’s worth the ride. It will pay off. Don’t stop watching.”
Smollett also commented on how relate-able the show is to it’s viewers. “Everyone, no matter their age, race or sexual orientation can relate to the underdog. Everyone has felt misunderstood and counted out – some of us more than others – but we all know that feeling and that’s what Jamal represents,” said Smollett.
The winter finale airs tonight, December 2nd. Will you be tuning in, or have you already tuned out? Either way, it may be worth watching just for Cookie’s one-liners.
