The news of Prince’s death sent fans to the store to buy their favorite Prince records. The sales spike shattered Billboard records, rewriting history in the music industry.
The first full week after Prince’s death, five of his albums held spots on Billboard’s top ten list. According to the charts, Prince held the 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 spots, while Beyonce’s Lemonade held the number one slot.
Prince has also broken a record, that was previously held by The Beatles. The singer is now the artist with the most albums (10%) in Billboards 200 chart with 19 total, The Beatles previously had 14.
The singer sold a total of 4.4 million records in the week following his death. Read more on the story here and here.
